Psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling are talking therapies. They are used to treat emotional difficulties and mental health issues. A trained psychotherapist can offer an environment in which you can:

    • Express your feelings
    • Gain a deeper insight into the issues you face
    • You choose which issues or life events you wish to discuss
    • Helps you explore your emotions, thoughts and life experiences
    • Helps you develop appropriate ways of managing your life better
    • Psychotherapy sessions are confidential. This means you can talk more easily about things you may not feel comfortable discussing with anyone else. My aim will be to help you find better ways to cope and promote changes in the way you think and to improve your mental and emotional wellbeing.

CAREER AND EXECUTIVE COACHING AND CONSULTANCY:

I can conduct a thorough analysis of work and life experience to clarify how they interact. I take a psychological approach to understanding how to make informed and constructive changes in your personal and professional life. This can assist with:

    • Understanding and articulating the relationships between personal and professional development
    • Ability to see how our behaviour impacts others and how we are affected by them
    • Analysing and improving team work
    • Clarify how to set boundaries for oneself and others
    • Develop an awareness of how to create a healthy and sustainable work-life balance
    • There is a fully collaborative relationship between me as coach/psychotherapist and my clients. Psychotherapy outcome research has demonstrated the importance of that relationship in facilitating and understanding change.

Coaching differs from psychotherapy in that it focuses on establishing clear goals and outcomes, selected by and agreed with the client. Good, effective coaching depends on psychological understanding of oneself and others.

Please e mail me at enquiries@gillianlock.co.uk or call and leave a message on 07795 211 352. I will be in touch promptly and we can discuss a convenient time to meet.

We start with an initial assessment meeting, where I can tell you more about what to expect and how I work. This will give you a chance to tell me more about yourself, discuss any difficulties or challenges you are facing and generally get an idea of whether you feel comfortable with me and decide whether therapy and/or coaching can help you. Sessions can be one-to-one, include a partner or family members or be in a group.

I work from my consulting room in North West London (NW11). The underground is an 8 minute walk . Free parking is readily available nearby. My consulting room is on the ground floor, but at present not wheel chair accessible.
